I am a die-hard advocate for solution-focused techniques—because no matter what life throws your way, in the end you have to find a solution. How you perceive it, process it, and respond to it is your power. You can accept the situation, change the situation, change how you feel about it… or stay miserable.
With 17 years of experience in the game, I have seen just about every kind of suffering a human being can experience. I have worked with individuals and families, first responders, veterans, aviation professionals, offenders, and those dealing with chemical dependency. My career spans private practice, adult & adolescent intensive outpatient programs, adult & geriatric inpatient psychiatry at 2 renowed healthcare institutions, in addition to crisis settings in the ER & critical stress debriefings.
I have seen works and what doesn't work. Taking responsibility for you life and focusing on the solution and how I can instead of I can't changes lives. Mix in learning from failures, along with some discipline, tenancity, patience, and resiliance and the outcome is success. I know solution focused techniques work because I live by these principles.
